During my time with the Georgia Revolution FC, I got introduced to the Atlanta District Amateur Soccer League, one of the oldest operating amateur soccer leagues in the United States. Originally created as a means to hype up the sport of soccer by the Atlanta Chiefs following the creation of the franchise in 1967. The league operates in one of the most amazing ways, every team is independent and has a promotional/relegation system in place to allow for more competitive competition while encouraging teams to become better every season in order to play against the top teams in the area.
Currently the league has two divisions: Division 1, where the top teams compete to stay in the top tier of the league while fighting to stay out of relegation to Division 2 which includes the bottom two of Division 1 at the end of the season.
Division 2 is where most teams start their journey in the ADASL, the 2nd Division includes newly-formed teams vying for the top two spots the division which are promoted to Division 1 following the end of the regular season.
The Major Season is the main competitive season starting in October and running through late spring.
