These pictures were taken from a boat cruise of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in the upper peninsula of Michigan near a town called Munising. The national park, on the shore of Lake Superior, contains miles of sandstone cliffs dyed myriad colors by water passing through the stone over different minerals like iron, copper, manganese, and limonite. The soft nature of the sandstone also allows the water to bore out caves and other inlets.
