Reducing the environmental impact of hand washing dishes.

Duration
1 week
Combining essential tools into a single product that utilises a regulated wash-fluid dispensing system enables users to reduce water consumption when cleaning dishes.
Problem
2 in 3 UK homes do not own a dishwasher
70 litres of water is used on average when washing dishes by hand
50 minutes is the average time taken to hand wash dishes

Opportunity
Design a consumer product that will provide both an improved user experience and environmental benefit by reducing the time invested to effectively hand wash dishes as well as the volume of water used.
✔ Reduce the time spent switching between tools
✔ Auto-regulate water consumption
✔ Significantly reduce tap running time
A water and soap mixture is loaded into the product via the top inlet. This mixture is then secreted into the sponge and brush at the necessary rate to effectively clean dishes. The result is a reduction in wasteful tap running time.
