Boshun - lounge chair for thinkers
The brief for our design project was to design a classic chair which is inspired by the state or cities of India alloted to us. The city given to us was Kolkata.
The scheme and vision was to push us to explore the possible amalgamation of tradition with ongoing contemporary trends.
Made with Steam Beech with a dark walnut stain, the earthy wooden structure is combined with rich upholstery to give the royal feeling that Bengal encapsulates.
Material Used: Steam Beech
Final Finish: Dark Walnut stain
Upholstery: 3 inch thick cushions with a green fabric
Factors of ergonomics and Anthropometrics
considered:
• Seat Width
• Backrest Height
• Height Of The Seat From The Floor
• Angle Of The Backrest
• Height Of The Legs
• Armrest Height
• Armrest Width

Ideation board. Preliminary steps in gathering information about Kolkata and the reflections of Bengali culture.
Kolkata, the city of joy is usually spoken of as the capital of west Bengal or most of the people even call it the city which is on the eastern banks of the river, Hooghly.
City of Joy, what more is there to it?
There the brainstorming and mapping process started off, a collage of sticky notes with a variety of factors to study about, we listed it all out and began with our process of Research work.

In the workshop, model making to actually working with wood to create what we visualized.
Me in my torn pajamas, working on the assembly of all the wooden pieces to make the first prototype.
In the workshop.
Assembling the seat, clamping it all together to witness the final outcome.
