The Akira Project Posters

In 2013, I volunteered to help with the Akira Project, a Fan-Film based off of the anime classic Akira. I was asked to create three posters to populate the background of scenes.
In the Neo-Tokyo Police wanted poster, my goal was to design a realistic wanted poster for the Ryu character. I began by recreating the Neo-Tokyo Police emblem in Illustrator, and then designed the grainy video footage with Photoshop. The majority of the information on the poster comes directly from the original manga.
In this piece, I wanted to use original art from the manga. In the background, I featured the kanji for "Akira" on a sheet of aged parchment that I scanned. The quote was taken directly from the anime.
I wanted this one to be more of a guerrilla campaign, so I used a shocking image with heavy text to grab attention.
