Duke Basketball Exploration

This is a very small personal project inspired by the most captivating college basketball team to take the nation by storm since the Michigan Fab Five teams of the earlier 90's. I wanted to use this project as an opportunity to explore the use of pattern as texture and non-traditional display fonts.

Pattern:

I developed two patterns. One was a simple tread pattern designed from the negative space in the Duke logo. This was used to represent the mark the team left on their opponents and the sports world. The other pattern is a simple line pattern used to represent motion and energy.

Typography:

I selected display fonts to represent two themes this team produced: Uncanny talent and youthful playfulness. These fonts were used for headlines and background graphic treatments. A clean and modern font was used to compliment the display fonts for secondary messaging.
