[ venus ]

Venus typeface was created in 2019 as an academic project.
It seeks to explore the broad world of type design.

Venus' design started in calligraphy, to then be improved and vectorised to create the digital version. The goal was to design a type for long texts, in two weights (regular and bold), including numbers and symbols, to be fully functional but also unique.
Its name, inspired by the roman goddess of beauty, relates to the delicate curves of each letter – whose only the sea's soft foam could create.

Slighly condensed and an average x-height, venus performs at its best when used in long texts. it has broad bilateral neoclassical serifs and prominent drops at the end of curves.
its strong contrast adds elegance to the letters, just as its subtle oblique axis.
