The use of light and a pastel cooler palette in Tom’s work is reminiscent of American illustration from the 1950's and ‘60s. Using light as a tool for picking out specific detail, he casts beams upon cigarette smoke, snowy hilltops and windows to direct your eye to what you really need to see.

Whether it’s illustrating the curves of nature or the block symmetry of a big city, there is such effortless grace in what he does.
