Started out at the age of 17, Daryl's favourite part about this job is meeting the people that walk in and chatting with them and having the freedom to draw his own designs. "It's just really cool to see my artwork be part of someone's life," he says. 

Daryl revealed to us that the array of tattoos on his arm are his favourites and they don't really have a meaning behind it. "I don't really think about the reason of getting one, it's more of a if I like it, thats enough reason to get it." Tattoos don't need to have a story, it's art and expression. Even the impulsive ones!

"That's the beauty of permanence of tattoos, they become a piece of your life and who you were at the time." 

Daryl gave a rundown of the consultation process which is typically done over messages; the customer will show a reference of the desired tattoo followed by size and placement. For the more complex ones they will pop by the studio to discuss it. And once all that's settled, simply book a date!

According to Daryl, the types of tattoos people get from him are often floral work and his speciality, neo-traditional. People will either choose a piece of his flashworks, which are visible to browse on his Instagram, or request for a customised type.

Naked Skin Tattoo is a current resident to four artist at the moment. Though we aren't sure if they are open to take in apprentices at the time. 

Daryl's love of art has taken him from doodling in sketchbooks to tattooing people and the soft humming of tattoo machines in the studio is something he treasures as part of his life. Over the past years, Daryl is continuously exposing himself and learning different tattoo styles.

When asked if he had any plans to expand, to either bounce to another studio or maybe even open up shop his own, Daryl mentions that he's just going with the flow of things, "If the opportunity is there, I'll take it. I'm not rushing things, it worked out then so it'll work now. Hopefully." he mentions with a laugh. 

An advice Daryl has for those who wants to get a tattoo but are hesitant to go through the commitment of a tattoo, is that when you're older and things have changed, you can always look back and relieve the days of youth. "Something to remember, a story to tell to your kids."

And yes, it'll hurt but "tatt's the way" of life!
