Cyberpunkish Photomanipulations

Deep Web
At first I was inspired by Defiance TV series character - an alien with hexagonal skin.
Than I thought that it would look nice with light like this.
And finally I associated what I had with Deus Ex game series, so I thought he really needs glasses.
Diagonal lines on his cheeks at first were an accident. I was experimenting with hexagons selection, and one of trials gave me effect like this below, and I came with the idea to extend it because why not.
Work in steps
Hexagon grid, which I made in illustrator, simple thing, but I had to try 3 different methods to create it big enough. Illustrator crashed at first and second attempt - too many objects. Finally, instead of duplicating hexagons, or using distort & transform comand, I found sth which actually works at this scale - pattern and making compound path from it (it had to be bigger than photo itself I needed some extra room to liquify). But at second attempt I've learned how I can check the distance I moved the object vertically and horisontally and then used this numbers in distort & transform dialog box, so there's that.

Carved in stone
At first I just saw an old short tutorial about displacement maps and turning into stone, and I thought, why not try it. Then I thougt this statue needs something more going on around, so I went with triangles, cause everybody likes triangles (purely artistic meaning). And then came the tweaking part when I'm changing composition playing with levels, camera raw filter and saving 15 or so versions till I'm satisfied (enough).

-Texture (I'm 70% sure it was this particular texture, but then I cloned and warped so many cracks that can't be sure 100%):
