Filosa is a Mexican brand from artisanal, small-batch beer company Cervecería Batarí. Based in Chihuahua, the brand pays tribute to its location near the Mapimí Silent Zone (or La Zona del Silencio in Spanish) and all the adventures, myths and legends surrounding it.

Illustrations based in turn-of-the-century engravings include collage-style depictions of mysterious phenomena, adventurer antiques, old-fashioned industrial machinery, together with arid flora and fauna over desert landscapes. The illustrations depict the brewery’s dedication to its craft: using the natural and the industrial, as well as their own magical touch, to produce their special recipes. Filosa’s current range contains three brews, each with its own unique illustration: Red Session Lager, Indian Pale Session Lager, and Black Czech Session Lager.

The typographic palette, which includes monospaced, serif and sans-serif fonts, is based on the intertwined styles of old Wild West posters and Industrial Revolution era newspapers.

The logotype has two versions: the principal, uncut version sporting the word Filosa in all-caps using a tall, condensed, modern serif typeface, and the split version of the first, a nod to the brand’s name (filosa means sharp in Spanish).
