Balanced.

It's fun to occasionally move out of your element and challenge yourself to design something new. As an industrial designer, you find yourself diving deep into disciplines and fields you wouldn't have ever thought you'd be exploring and learning about. Often times it's fun and exciting, often its scary and awkward, and that's what makes design fun. Sometimes though its necessary to hit the 'reset' button and revisit your design 'bucket list'. If your an industrial designer, you have one.
I know you do.

Earlier this year, the team at BALANCE decided to step back from client work for a week and explore something none of us have really taken time to design- furniture. As we started to explore, one theme became ever-apparent (and for obvious reasons). Maybe we will come back to these ideas, maybe we won't. One thing is for sure- we had some fun.

Furniture designs that invite the user to explore the idea of 'Balance' through interactivity and gesture.

Adjustable Plant Stand.

A small, wood plant stand with metal legs that independently adjust to adapt to not-so-flat terrain. Slanted floor? No problem. Save a plant, twist a leg.
Oh, and the top surface has embedded levels, for the OCD types.
