Cancer Care Ontario - "Perspectives on Infectious Agents and Cancer" (April 2010)

One goal I wanted to acheive while in graduate school was to create work about Epstein Barr Virus, but more importantly I wanted to help educate others about the importance of their health. I was contacted by Cancer Care Ontario, asking permission to include my image depicting EBV infecting squamous epithelial cells in their monthly journal. This journal was about research developments in infectious agents and their connections to cancer. 90% of people in the U.S. are infected with EBV, but in most cases it lays dormant in their body like many other viruses. However, when it becomes latent people can develop Mononucleiosis, Chronic Epstein Barr Virus and researchers have found the virus within cancer cells. Researchers are finding more links between EBV and cancer, and it is important to continue living a healthy lifestyle.
