This chart shows which regional economic communities (REC) each African country belongs, the level of aviation safety oversight, and whether or not the country ratified the Yamoussoukro Decision. All of these factor into how safe aviation is.

I color-coded each REC and because many of the countries belonged to more than one economic community, I elected to show that status as a gradient blend between the two colors. I ensured that any pair of REC colors would blend together harmoniously.

Green, orange/yellow, and red are often used in the aviation industry to show positive to negative factors. I used these for the levels of safety oversight with a neutral grey for the one country for which the safety oversight level had not been rated.
