Wild Coast is a magazine dedicated to celebrating the wonders and wilds of British Columbia. The publication is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts and armchair travellers alike.

The objective was to design a magazine that appeals to the serious outdoor enthusiast yet is approachable to those who are not as outdoorsy and would like to enjoy nature from the comfort of home.

I experimented with many typefaces for the masthead but it was Monster Mash that came out as the winner since its ragged style is reminiscent of a shaggy beast and best symbolizes BC’s untamed wilderness. I selected Dosis for the cover copy because the playful nature of the font evokes a sense of calm for people who have never been on a hike may be intimidated by your typical outdoor magazine. With the exception of the hiking guide — which was paraphrased — I devised all the copy for this publication.
