Related too sit watch over; guard, take care. Just as latent, it exists, but obscured or hidden. Constant pain or sensation, although not sharp or intense.

After my father’s death, while we were trying to remove things that could make his loss more painful for my mother, I found some boxes of photographic paper. A quick glance inside one of these boxes, which contained medium format negatives and drawings, made me imagine that what they kept would bring me closer to my father’s work as a graphic designer, of which I knew little. I kept the boxes hoping that one day I would be able to sustain that travel in time. Years later, examining their content, I was surprised to find some printing tests done with an office printer, with dates noted at the bottom: 1992, 1993, ... After more than thirty years of craftsmanship, drawing letters, passing Letrasset or painting presentations with watercolors, he had to adapt to a new paradigm accelerated by the eruption of computers. I thought I could sense why he kept all those tests, which initially seemed so unimportant, boxed up, and why he treasured what he did with his own hands. I missed, in a deep and conscious way, everything I didn't get to know about him. At that time, in response to the need not to re-enclose all those memories, the project "Veiled" began to take shape.

I decided to build "Veiled" into two parts that could be read individually or together. The first part would show what the boxes contained, making my father present through what he decided to keep. The other would show how I remember him, what the present is like without him. Presence and absence work together to create a story that speaks in the language of intuition and metaphor, rather than of rational discourse. Using this language, the book  delves into universal concepts such as loss, memory, the passage of time and acceptance.
