“It is often forgotten that (dictionaries) are artificial repositories, put together well after the languages they define, The roots of language are irrational and of magical nature.”
Jorge Luis Borges

A Central Saint Martins’ project revolving around the idea and form of a dictionary. The aim of this assignment was to re-design the traditional glossary and create a new classification system. As a trigger we got list of 30 words including globalisation, taxonomy, discourse – none of them were material objects but concepts and theories. I was not only looking for a way to tie the words together in an original manner but also trying to make the dictionary more visually appealing and exciting. I decided to base my dictionary on a cookbook – every word is defined in a form of a recipe, with related concepts as the ingredients. Each recipe is accompanied by a photography which revolves around cooking but also relates to the word itself.
