Reliv | Inclusive Skincare Packaging

Reliv's collection is is the result of many weeks of experimentation with the user, where the active observation and detection of a real problem has evolved into a formal and functional solution for skincare packaging. The objective of this project is to give visibility to elderly people who, despite their physical difficulties, don’t want to give up on the use of cosmetic products in their skincare routine.
After studying the mainly causes of aging, we also came up with consequences. Generally, when our body gets old, it tends to develop some diseases that affect our physical abilities.

In order to find a proper response, the project has focused on a study process of women over 60 who suffer from osteoarthritis. Thanks to them, it has been possible to analyze what the needs are on a small scale, being able to apply the results to a larger sample.
“Products and formula are being improved and adapted to our skin-aging necessities, but packaging isn’t.” - Virginia, 67.

Being aware of the user necessities and knowing which are the packaging requirements, the challenge consisted on combining both to find an adapted solution.
All packages have been prototyped in rapid 3D printing in order to validate their shape with the end user, Lola. She has been part of the whole process, validating the correct ergonomics of each of the parts.

Its shape has been designed in order to let the user find a more comfortable way to carry out their skincare routine.

Once the different objects we wanted to design were defined, we applied the determined values to each packaging typology, obtaining different functional and aesthetic parts.
In aesthetic terms, the design responds to recent trends seen on the luxury market for skincare and cosmetics packaging. By mixing the correct mterials and finishes, we have been able to adapt the different packages to real user needs.

Its shapes follow a pattern based on revolutions formed by simple geometries. The relaxed edges created around the volume facilitate the grip of the package, as well as the ribbed texture on its surface does.
The objective of this project is to give visibility to elderly people who, despite their physical difficulties, don’t want to give up on the use of cosmetic products in their skincare routine.

Regarding the communication of the product and considering that all objects belong to a collection, we have applied the same palette and graphics under the name Reliv. Its name comes from the combination between ‘relive’ and ‘relief’.
Its image breathes calm and elegance, something we get through its shapes and colors. Reliv looks for the perfect combination between form and function.

The pink Lillium follows the concept of the brand, intensifying its values representing majesty, purity and beauty.
The chromatic range enhances this serenity by using pleasant powdery colors. The gradient applied in the body of colored products it’s used as a metaphor for the passage of time, where the color is aging like our body does.

Among the rose, yellow and turquoise powdered colors, it has been possible to define a color range that will match when combining the products for the creation of advertising posters and a future secondary packaging.
