My Essay on Social Media
Publication Design - Theoretical Writing 2012
With social media becoming more and more important to designers and indeed for businesses, this was something I wanted to write an essay on to explore. By the end of my research I'd have a better understanding of embracing new things, and also a designed publication presenting findings discovered. Over the course of the essay I got in touch with Joshua Ogden, a Digital Designer that used Twitter to promote his magazine and online blog 'Justified'.
In chatting he felt using it was a rather odd thing to do, but the key positive to take from using social media was how it's a means of bringing people together to create a form of natural collective interest in a subject generating interest and income for businesses. This un-natural/natural feel social media has, became a core in our discussions on social media success and in doing so became the main theme for my publication design thanks to a use of colour and imagery.
