The Hill Revitalization

ROSETTE INTERSECTIONS
The rosette functions as a reoccurring design element throughout the neighborhood. For inspiration, I pulled from the architecture of St. Ambrose Church.
BICYCLE INTERSECTIONS
Every year in the Fall, Giro Della Montagna makes its way through the community for a mile long race. This bicycle wheel is placed along the path the cyclists take. This allows the Hill to proudly display its involvement in the race.
BOCCE BALL INTERSECTION
The St. Louis Bocce Club was formed by local community members in 1975. The club transformed an old abandoned building into a home for camaraderie, good times, and bocce ball. This intersection design works with the building in representing the values and capabilities of the neighborhood.
TOASTED RAVIOLI
Mama Campisi is the birthplace of the toasted ravioli. To add novelty and show off The Hill's strong historical roots, I designed this wall graphic and pattern for the restaurant. Envisioning a retro style for the graphics, I looked to the artists Louise Fili, Laura Smith, and Michael Doret for inspiration.
1950 WORLD CUP
The 1950 US soccer team, which was mostly comprised of teammates from The Hill, was the underdog in a match between England during the 1950 FIFA World Cup. In spite of seeming very unlikely, the United States men's soccer team defeated England 1–0 . This wall graphic is meant to be located on Lorenzo's Trattoria. It's very close to Berra Park where the soccer games are held.
STREET LANTERNS
I reintroduced the rosette into these lanterns to create a wholeness for the identity of the neighborhood. The golden globes complement the green from The Hill color palette. The wooden posts give the space a soft and natural quality.
