Problem
Among all incident, Dooring has become a major issue among all types of bike accidents. It leads to serious injuries to bike riders and sometimes it becomes fatal (Bicycle network, 2017).
Between July 2011 and June 2016, there were 771 car dooring cases involving bicycle riders. Out of the 177 were serious injuries and two fatalities (VicRoads, 2018).
Research Question
“What are the vehicle occupant’s habits as they open a car door on the driver’s side of the vehicle when in a door zone?”.
The Proposal
The product design concept: The Dutch reach door will create the need for immediacy. It will remind people to open their car driver door with the left hand (for Australia) and that will initiate the Dutch reach method of a car door opening. The Dutch reach method suggests people to open the car door with the opposite hand, a left hand for the car driver side.

The Campaign
The communication design of how to use the Dutch Reach Door. A strategy is shown in terms of a campaign done by government (VicRoads). A collaboration also can be done between automobile company and the government.
