Festen is a British stage adaptation of the Danish film of the same name. The film tells the story of a family gathering to celebrate their father's 60th birthday. At the dinner, the eldest son publicly accuses his father of sexually abusing both him and his twin sister (who had recently committed suicide).  Leeds Theater of Brown University is the site for this project.

 

Since this play has three acts but all happens in a big summer house in Denmark, I show the dinning room in the down stage and the bedroom in an opened box. All the interior decoration and furniture are painted black and white with the abstract outline to show the dark atmosphere and the contrast bettween the family festen and crime behind.
