TREE - Wood Sculpture

TREE
2019
From three trunks, the branches of different thickness and width spread out to the sky. The tip of those branches are going in the same direction by receiving the wind. By adding some variations in width, thickness, and orientation of the branches, the tint of the paint became more prominent, and the deep parts became beautiful amber.

PROCESS
Recently, I made some works of design that requires depth by using small size wood, but this time I would like to use large size wood for the first time in a while. size of this wood is 20x16x10cm. In this work, I would like to represent how the trees that spread their branches towards the sky are blown by the wind. In order to create a design that greatly expands the branches and draws its attention to the upper part, it is necessary to devise a way to stabilize and stand the trunk that supports it.
I’m sketching the design and thinking where to start carving. And also I cut the unwanted part with a saw and use it for a small artwork.
This is a situation where the branches spread from three trunks. However, I am very difficult to carve because I want to narrow the space between the trunks. Therefore, I will carve little by little while changing the type of edged tool.
