Monster Mash Party

Monster Mash Halloween Party
A mash-up of bright colors and cardboard boxes make a monster theme.

Repurposed cardboard shipping boxes spray painted with bright colors get a second life as monsters at this Halloween party. Simple paper cuts for eyes, mouths and markings complete the transformation and they are stacked up and mashed up to make big, bold decorations.

The monster theme is continued in snack styling. Provisions are accessorized with eyeballs made of varying edible material, and grapes and marshmallows form monster treat cups.

Families with young toddlers comprised most of the guests at this event, so I designed a babe friendly craft activity – a giant felt board where kids and adults alike could make their own monsters. My family and I crafted our fruit monster group costume out of felt to coordinate.

Post-party, our box monsters lived on as Halloween decorations we donated to Alana’s coffee shop around the corner.
