Concentration Project #1

(In advance I apologize for the horrendous quality pictures.)
(Edit: 3/7/2020 - So, I did not realize I was supposed to be posting the process work as well, which I'm a little embarrassed to do, as my notes are REALLY messy when I make art, and I end up leaving them every where on multiple papers, so here is my concept and other process compilation)
Doodle's concept sheet too so the backstory makes a bit more sense.
So, my concentration for this semester is a story I want to make eventually, and I wanted to use this time to force myself to actually get off my lazy butt and work on a long term project for once. That being said, I mainly wanted to use these concentration projects I must do as a way to iron out details, get used to drawing the characters, world build by thinking about and making landscapes, and finding a style I want to use.

Specifically, if anyone cares (because my teacher told me to talk about my project but I don't exactly know what that means), this is actually supposed to be a villain and hero kind of world and this character I made is a villain there named Skribble. His ability is to make anything he says, as long as it is in a story format (Ex: "I summon a legendary sword to slay my enemies..."), real. He has a brother named Doodle who he absolutely despises (surprise, surprise, he's a villain after all) after Doodle (without realizing mind you) turned their entire hometown against him, saying that his power was dangerous after he somehow altered the design of Doodle's character accidentally when it first activated, erasing his face and thus ability to talk, despite the fact that his ability has never allowed him to physically alter someone again no matter how hard he tried (he tried to bring his face back of course). He has become pretty cynical and focuses his villainous activity on pretty much doing anything he can to stick it to someone else and their expectations and rules. He's also got a few screws loose and has better and worse days where the crazy seems to take over. Also side note, but both Doodle and Skribble are actually made of paper and are in fact 2D in everything but their clothes, but they weigh the same as any average person.

Currently Skribble is relaxing on one of his better days where he actually seems normal and somber, in some cyberpunk city that I felt like designing because it seemed fun. I don't have a name for the city yet but it runs on energy from this mother crystal that gives everyone their powers when they're around five. The building in the background is supposed to say "Crystal Tech" but I messed up and now it's official name is just "Crstal Tech", I was going to make it in the story how the 'y' fell off or something. Anyway, that company is actually the people that primarily run what is technically the most powerful and technology advance city as they control access to the mother crystal and the energy produced from it powering the city. Fun fact: All the official government clothing there are blue. (I also have more places and they all have their own crystals, government officials, and are their own political powers and whatnot, but the mother crystal in the most powerful of them all, being the original source of all the other crystals' power)

and that's the end of my thought process and story building during all of this. I literally just wanted to draw a character I had randomly made a concept of beforehand and though he was fun to draw, coming up with all this story afterward. See, the wonders of forcing yourself to actually stop procrastinating.
