Professional sports agents help professional athletes manage their careers by negotiating player contracts on their behalf. In the NFL, agents are required to hold an undergraduate and graduate degree in addition to being subjected to a comprehensive background investigation. Moreover, prospective agents must complete a two-day seminar in Washington, D.C., and pass an examination.

A proctored test, the NFL agent examination consists of sixty multiple choice questions. The exam covers subject areas that are relevant to player representation. Currently, these include the salary cap, player benefits, NFL Players Association regulations, substances abuse and performance enhancing substances, and the NFL collective bargaining agreement.

The test has a three-hour time limit, and candidates are allowed to use prepared notes. For more information, visit www.nflpa.com/agents.
