The Horse America Made

The Horse You've Always Wanted
The December 2010 issue of Horse Illustrated magazine was profiling the American Saddlebred horse, a rare breed with a small group of loyal fans. This breed is highly and often incorrectly stereotyped in the equine world, and several breeders, owners and trainers decided to pool their resources and place an ad in the magazine to combat the stereotype.

As a fellow Saddlebred owner, I offered my services to design the ad. I posted requests for photos on several popular equestrian forums, and selected the ones that best showcased Saddlebreds being used for a variety of activities.

All photos were color corrected and cropped as necessary, and given a "polaroid" effect with handwriting labeling each photo with a word associated with the activity. The background image of an American flag on a wooden table was enhanced, and the photos placed strategically on the table and under the flag for a realistic 3D effect.
