New Wagon Concepts

This isn't your Fathers' wagon
Madison, Wisconsin
How cool is it to get asked to redesign a series of wagons? Better yet, I wasn't given many restrictions other than to keep costs down and shown the old model it was to replace. Hmmmm, can you say Dream Job? My plan was to split the designs  in stages so they could be introduced in sequence. From a marketing standpoint, my goal was to create a new wagon at the same cost but with compelling graphics. Then we would add a "plus one" to create a more premium model. Next comes a nicer model that would be priced at an even higher pricepoint.

The images below were done using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
This one and the one below is the first stage of the redesign. Adding graphics to a standard wagon to differentiate it from the "other red wagons" and bring higher perceived value. The graphics and paint would add very little to the cost, but the return would be enormous.
This is the second stage of the redesign and is a slight modification to an existing wood-cladded model. The difference is this one harks back to iconic old Ford Woodies that were used carry surfboards around Southern California beaches.
Second stage redux: A second model to go along with the above. This is inspired from1957 Chevy Bel Airs with gleaming paint and chrome. The added "fins" were intially designed to be made of stamped, brushed metal but could just as easily be a high quality mylar decal. There is a hot-rodded version below as a complement for those in touch with their inner James Dean.
This was the third stage, and is a much more upscale wagon with mahogany deck that is inspired by mid-century Chris Craft wooden boats. It was designed to have a quilted, padded seat and a hinged storage conpartment in front and rear.

There were many more models I had planned, including an off-road version with fenders a Deluxe model with exclusive features and designed to appropriately transport those things you hold dear.
