Fraternal Order of Police Supports Respect 21

A decorated law enforcement professional in Bluffton, South Carolina, Jacob “Jake” Higgins serves as a detective sergeant for the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. Formerly a special investigations detective with the Bluffton Police Department, Jacob “Jake” Higgins maintains membership in professional organizations including the Fraternal Order of Police.

The largest law enforcement organization in the world, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) comprises more than 330,000 members who work toward the organization’s mission of education, legislation, and community involvement. The FOP collaborates with MillerCoors in support of Respect 21, a responsible retailing program that aims to reduce incidents of underage drinking.

During their 12-month participation with the program, retailers are visited by legal-age mystery shoppers who test the efficacy of their retailing policies in preventing underage drinking. By helping retailers improve sales procedures, the program prioritizes safety and responsible, legal alcohol consumption. Established in 2005, Respect 21 has worked with more than 900 retailers to implement policies to make it more difficult for underage people to obtain alcohol.
