'Kalpana' : Character Design

'Kalpana' is a short film about imagination, and its importance in one’s life.
To have no imagination would mean to have no dreams and aspirations, to not have a world in our head to turn to when we need a break from our harsh reality. If one does not have an imagination, the world would seem like a dreary monotonous place, where there is no scope for resting the mind. Instead, the starkness of life would take over the soul, robbing one’s ability to escape to a different world altogether, if only for a few moments.
Kalpana is an eight year old Indian farm girl. She is innocent and young, and works for an old lady in a farm. She is poor and must work hard to make enough money to take care of herself.
She was so engrossed in her hard work, that she lost her Imagination years ago, and did not even realize. One day, she accidentally discovers it again, packed in a dusty old box hidden underneath a table.
