The Green School in Bali, Indonesia designed and built an inflatable cooling room out of bamboo and canvas material. When expanded, the canvas reaches up to 15 feet high. This is one of many innovative structures built on the school's acreage. Aquaculture ponds, organic gardens and experiments with hydro power generation provide students with an interactive and holistic learning experience.
Anastasia Delaney cuddles a bamboo culm at Linda Garland's bamboo farm in Bali, Indonesia. Linda Garland is the founder of the Environmental Bamboo Foundation, an Indonesian non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the use of bamboo as a sustainable and eco-friendly resource. According to EBF, bamboo is the fastest growing canopy for repairing degraded lands, and releases 35% more oxygen than other trees.
A tourist is possessed by the powers of this traditional Balinese mask. These ornately crafted masks are inspired by various gods and represent the belief that every object and being is a potential home for a spirit's energy.
Organic farm owner, Dana, checks her new chick's infection to see if it's healing. Dana and her husband manage a small organic farm in southern Portugal and grow an assortment of vegetables on their 5 acre plot. Their living structures are made of clay and repurposed materials.  And they rely on solar thermal and photovoltaics to produce 80% of their heating and electricity needs. 
A solar cooker warms a pot of rice. This former satellite dish is plastered with mirror fragments, a separate rack was built to hold the pots and pans. This also made fantastic pizza! 
This small organic farm in Czech Republic repurposes old refrigerators to grow tomato seedlings. Covering the tops at night protect the seedlings from icy temperatures. 
Volunteers for Brooklyn Farmyards help harvest an assortment of vegetables for a community supported agriculture program. Brooklyn Farmyard's mission is to convert residential backyards into small organic farms. Brooklyn, NY
Hands and Hearts Community Garden partners with local small business, Vokashi, to create healthy compost soil for its community gardening efforts.
The Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park is home to some of the largest Sequoias in the world.
