Illustration class project. Picture book reissue.
We were asked to make the illustrations and, if needed, to edit the text of a picture book of our choice. My pick was Goldilocks And The Three Bears. The intention was to make a book for children that resembled those not so children’s disturbing tales from the time when stories like this one were told. And if possible, make it affordable to craft (to model). In order to do so, the pictures were made using only strokes emulating the etching used in old illustrations and their darkness.
For character design, I found it interesting to give Goldilocks the personality of an intrusive and disrespectful girl and the Bears, that of a loving family whose house had been taken over by a third party.
