Created as documentation of the first project in GDES 322 that explored machine- and mark-making. The input for the machine that made the prints (images 3,4) were paper, cotton ball with ink, the vehicle trip length and destination, and the motion of the vehicle when driving. Mark-making occurred when the object bumped around on the paper in a long tube as the car moved from one destination to the next, making marks that bled, skidded over, or punctured the paper. Each final print (output) was unique and representative of the journey taken, and when collected over time, created a series of abstract map-like prints.
