type: conceptual design, product

Guidelines, idea of the project
VALO’s main concept was to combine simplicity and functionality of OLED lighting along with convenience and universality of the luminaire itself – which result from its small size, mobility and ability to separate individual elements. VALO is a table lamp, designed to illuminate the workspace.

Suggested materials
Suggested use of widely available and biodegradable materials, such as paper or cardboard, emphasizes the positive meaning of OLED lighting for the environment and the resulting reduction of energy consumption in the world. Proposed materials guarantee low production cost and easy replacement of the individual components. Wooden veneer or bent plywood are another interesting materials which can meet the design assumptions.

Power supply and manual guide
Regular power cord connection, without a switch on the cable. The lamp is being turned on as a result of two vertical segments drawing apart. Turning off with dimming effect ensues from sliding the segments back together. Modules are attached to the cylindrical core of the lamp with magnetic strips which are placed between two layers of cardboard. This installation method allows both vertical and horizontal movements of the modules. Rotation of the circles ensures adjustment of the light beam.
