I threw this together one night while going through a prolonged period of creative block.  It combines a couple of my influences all in one place.
I have a serious interest in Japanese Yakuza tattoos, the art that is and the significance of the designs.  As long as I can remember the epitome of tattoos and their origin in my mind came from Yakuza tattoos. The relation between the images and Japanese mythology has always fascinated me. The shading is crazy.

The Chinese Shi, or affectionately referred to in English as the Foo Dog or Guardian Lion, is so interesting to me, I remember as a kid watching Eastern movies and the entrances of buildings having these foo dog statues.  They inspire awe , and just as interesting to draw.

Finally Polynesian tribal designs; also a heavy influence in tattoos generally, but these tribal patterns are so interesting in how flexible they seem, almost fitting in perfectly wherever you need to put it.
I hope you liked the project.  Please remember to comment, like or share.  Much appreciated.
