STEAMBOAT WINERY
Steamboat came into being in 2012 when a couple of friends decided to turn their hobby of wine making into a full-time passion project.
Taking advantage of the slight increases to temperatures due to global warming that have made the St. John River Valley a hotspot for producing wine grapes the founders began building several vineyards at various locations along the Saint John River.
It was on a drive from one location to the other that the founders began a discussion about the Steamboats that used to transport passengers and goods up and down the Saint John River from 1816-1946. It was at this moment that the name Steamboat was given to the Vineyard and they began to pull from this rich history to develop their story for the company.

The logo's ideas came from the company's story of the steamboats that used to transport passengers and goods up and down the Saint John River from 1816-1946. The design is required to evoke interests from the target market - wine connoisseurs, who appreciate the value of high-end quality wine. Be clean and elegant but also bold and different, something that will stand out on the shelf among its competitors is what the brand's looking for.
The final design solution is based on the imagery of one of the real steamboats from the Saint John River, accompanied by bold and strong, yet classic logotype. The province's name is also presented on the logo to mark geographical meaning to the design.
The first wine to be bottled from Steamboat is their Bellisle Shiraz. Bellisle being the name of one of the Steamboats that use to cruise the river. Future wines will also be named after former members of the Saint John River steamboat fleet.
This Bellisle Shiraz displays the ripe, primary fruit flavours of dark cherries and blackcurrant along with dark chocolate and dried herbs. The palate is firm and generous with hints of blackberries, aniseed and lingering vanillin notes. It finishes with soft, subtle tannins, warm spice and toasty oak.
The design set includes label (front and back), wooden box, and display box.
The colour of deep plum with purple hues is used consistently throughout the design to reflect the taste of this Bellisle Shiraz.
Steamboat is the premier producer of east coast wine and is now being sold throughout Canada and into the eastern United States.
