"Genetic" banknote
The plot of this banknote is genetics, one of the branches of biology.
The founder of this science is Gregor Mendel, a monk, and later the abbot of the Augustinian monastery.
In 1865, his article “Experiments on Plant Hybrids” was published, in which he described the results of his experiments on peas, and which later became known as Mendel’s laws. The work did not arouse interest among contemporaries, and, apparently, Mendel himself did not quite clearly understand that he had opened the way for the study of one of the fundamental manifestations of life – heredity.
More than a hundred years later, a powerful tree with many prolific branches grew from the tender sprouts of Mendel’s peas: cytogenetics, molecular genetics, developmental genetics, medical genetics, population genetics ...

Через сто с лишним лет из нежных ростков гороха Менделя выросло мощное дерево со многими плодовитыми ветвями: цитогенетика, молекулярная генетика, генетика развития, медицинская генетика, популяционная генетика…
