Aluminum MacBooks finish is easy to damage, at least I have this ''talent'' to scratch it. My quick solution is:
laser cutter + neoprene + magnets
Modular fastening elements are also cut with neoprene and contain magnets inside. Fastenings can be easily removed before the whole cover is machine washed.
