Because we can't stay in our comfort zone to make a change. 
We have to take a risk. 

ALMAWANIE is a magazine about inhibition levels and the comfort zone. It addresses the common fear of being out of the loop and why it can be so hard for us to deal with unfamiliarities.​​​​​​​



Every person lives in the so-called 3-zone model.

COMFORT ZONE
The comfort zone is the area of our competencies that we master safely and in which we feel comfortable. However, we do not grow in this zone.

STRESS ZONE
This is where our opportunities for growth lie.  We access this zone by entering unfamiliar territory. This usually requires a lot of energy, because new challenges are associated with uncertainty, stress and possibly fear.

PANIC ZONE
If we cross a certain threshold in unfamiliar tasks, we enter the panic zone. We are overwhelmed by our anxiety and unable to act rationally. We often fail at those tasks.

+ Reward Zone
Once we have mastered new challenges, we are able to expand our knowledge or skills, and thus our comfort zone expands as well. The self-esteem is increased.

The magazine's structure is based on these zones. With self-experiments, we also challenged our own comfort zone in terms of content. The design of the individual chapters reflects the emotions felt in the zones. So the task was also to design outside of one's comfort zone.
