This is a recent scholarly project i completed. It is a Barrett M82A1 sniper rifle modeled in Autodesk Maya, textured using Adobe Photoshop, and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag. Normal maps were baked using xNormal, and the low detail model was created as a silhouette in Maya. I took the time to keep this model as accurate to real life as i could, and spent a lot of time working on the material definition for the metal body of the gun. The final low detail mesh came to approximately 6000 tries, and is rigged with animations working in the Unity engine.

As this was created with the intent to be a first person weapon, all detail was modeled to the players view point, with high geometry allocation to the scope, mount, handles, and bi-pod, since these would take up the most screen space in game, while things like the muzzle and vents along the body were left to have minimal geometry.
