Intention: I have always been interested in modernising traditional designs. Within this piece, I attempt to recreate antique blacksmith tools. The piece began with laser-cut shapes of MDF board: circles, semicircles, and rectangles. Sticking these shapes in a strategic manner made these tools came to life. The partially functional MDF sculptures were finished with a touch of spray paint to give them a rustic and metallic feel. The tools are a way to weld metal which manipulates their shape and their use, similar to how human beings are influenced by society, forcing them to change their appearances.
