Universal pliers
A project intended to test the functionality and aesthetic of a basic but one of the most important tool in everybody's tool box.
This project was done during the second year of my studies at the University Of Applied Art's in Belgrade, during which the goal was to explore the ergonomics of existing examples of pliers with the idea of improving them and to learning how to utilise the knowledge i had previously gained in my first year of studies on the basics of the design process.
After the initial research i had to use a pair of pliers extensively so that i could get an idea of the
ergonomic function of the pliers so i could find some of the problematic areas.
Then came the fun part, sketching and clay modelling!
Weeks of exploration and sketching resulted in an enormous amount different ideas which then had to be cut down to a few final concepts that would go on to be made in to functional prototypes out of MDF, for presentation purposes and a final examination of the designs.
