CENTRO INTERACTIVO DEL CANAL DE PANAMÁ

"Centro Interactivo del Canal de Panamá" is a museum designed and executed by Parque Explora corporation (Medellin - Colombia) in association with the National Authority of the Panama Canal as a client; a national company that currently directs and manages this historic and monumental structure, connecting both oceans (Atlantic and Pacific) since 1914 and being one of the most important maritime and commercial passages at the service of Panamá and the world.

The interactive museum is located in the interior city of Santiago, capital of the Province of Veraguas, and was conceived as an educational bet by the canal administration and the local government, to take there a new way to get in contact with the history of the canal and the history of the country, both closely linked. It's impossible to talk about Panama's national history without mentioning this megaproject. The museum was also conceived as a new initiative of Veraguas city, in charge of restoring and adapt for public the heritage house where the museum is located. The aim was to improve the non-conventional educational offer for the community in order to strengthen the sense of belonging of the citizens to the interoceanic route as well as to have a place that would become a tourist attraction for the region.

EXHIBITION INDOORS

The museum was designed around four main themes, which are shown in different areas of the house. In these places, visitors can get a glimpse of the importance of Panama's national history in relation to this inter-oceanic route, as well as the relationship between the canal and the enormous biodiversity of the country, which is derived from its privileged location on the planet and from the entire history of geological processes that gave rise to the isthmus and also the vital exchange of fauna across the continent for ages, long before the canal existed. It will also be possible to learn about the intimacy of the construction of this proyect: Its difficulties, its engineering, the historical and political episodes through time and its current operation and expansion.
The museum stands out for its content that combines analogous, contemplative, sensorial, simulation and immersive experiences using all types of technological resources that will allow the public to immerse themselves, enjoy and learn about the history, operation, impact and benefits of this monumental project that completely marks the history of an entire country.
