25th Annual Portfolio Night | Logo + Identity Design

Logo and Identity Design | San Francisco State University's School of Design |
25th Annual Alumni Portfolio Nite
The intent of this project was to create a theme and identity for the upcoming 2019 portfolio night event. The student organization, American Institute of Graphic Arts, collaborated with students from the Industrial Design Society of America's student chapter to create a logo and identity for the evening. This logo and identity would then applied to all necessary print and digital deliverables.
We created two Design Sprints to aid in the ideation process and encouraged all students in the School of Design to attend and give their feedback. It was during our Design Sprints that students defined what the 25th annual portfolio night meant to them and how to create a theme and identity for it.
We ended on a design that combines elements of tangram art and paper folding and thought it was fitting that the logo take on a hand–crafted feel as both disciplines, Graphic and Industrial design, require the designer to be hands on during the design phase. We decided to use yellow, green, and orange because they created a nice balance of contrast and vibrancy when set against our school color. We went with deep navy to accentuate the formality and importance of the evening.
The client chose Korina Moreno's lockup and our team of student designers incorporated it into their poster iterations. Marielle Cabillo developed a strong poster that as a team we tweaked together, which was later approved by the client.

With the color scheme, logo and first poster approved we worked to produce the remaining deliverables. We carried the identity developed in the poster and logo through all of the assets which created continuity and cohesion between them.
Working to produce a wide range of deliverables with little time was challenging, but we utilized workflow resources to help facilitate deadlines and expectations. Using Slack we were able to stay in touch with one another and pass files along inside our team.
Above features a digital version of the event program I created for the evening. This was created using Indesign and Microsoft Word.

Below is the power point presentation that I made for the evening. This was displayed on a big screen behind the moderator and speakers as the evening events progressed.
Mattie Nye took on designing the name–tags and we worked through different iterations and styles together.

Mariantonia Cambareri and I took on creating the table tents that would be placed on that tables in front of our Alumni and Guest Reviewers so students knew who they were about to sit down with.
