Assorted maps of Middle-Earth

This is a small sample of the maps of Tolkien's Middle-Earth that I have drawn. These three are done in a classical fantasy map style, slightly similar to the style of Daniel Reeve.

The Shire
Original map in A2 format. English and Swedish versions. Hand-drawn with text added in Illustrator. Originally printed in a large tabloid, see photo. The place-names in the Swedish version is a mixture of the best names from both the old and the new translations, with some small additions and corrections.

The Kingdom of Dale
A map of the rivers Celduin and Carnen and their environs from the Mirkwood to the Inland Sea of Rhûn – Dale, Esgaroth, Dorwinion, Eryn Lasgalen and the Iron Hills. Made to illustrate the expansion of the Kingdom of Dale after the Battle of Five Armies, as seen in the animated version below.

The Northern Vale of Anduin
Map covering the upper reaches of the great river Anduin, from Gladden fields to the Grey Mountains. The map positions the major tribes of the so-called Wild men or Wemothéod: the Harts, the Wolves, the Bears, the Eagles, and the Boars. All names given in their native tongue, a language that is close to the language of Dale and of Rohan (and thus reminiscent of Old English).
