To ensure that junior football coaching sessions are productive, coaches should take several key steps:

1. Ensure everyone enjoys themselves. Rather than telling players to focus on winning at all costs, encourage players to have fun playing the game, and focus on creating an environment that builds a strong team.

2. Be patient with players and praise their efforts, rather than criticizing everything they do. Body language, such as positive gestures and smiles, reassures and encourages young players to work harder. Shouting is discouraged.

3. Do not try to do everything on your own. This can be overwhelming, as coaching is a demanding and time-intensive pursuit. Delegate tasks such as snack schedules, team emails, and the uploading of team photos to interested parent volunteers.
