I am creative storyteller, a dream-weaver of images and words. My work is the heart of fantasy, drenched in adventure and sprinkled with irony. I use my creativeness to sent my viewers to a world that they’ve never seen full of fantastic stories and characters. I do this because I wish to explore theses places and follow the journeys of incurable characters that have never been seen before. I do it by my use of color, character design and the immense detail i strive to bring to all of my pieces.
l draw my inspiration mainly from fairy tales, and J R R Tolkien’s book of middle earth, not to mention science fiction works and other fantasy artists. I am mostly influenced by literature and film. I am also a great lover of history, being primarily interested in European histories from the middle ages to the 20th century. I am also very influenced by the style called Steampunk, which could be defined as a sub-genre of science fiction involving the Victorian era and styles combined with steam powered and mechanical inventions. I mainly work digitally, mainly using Photoshop to render.
To begin, I look at the pose or think about the character I am going to portray and how their story should be told, not to mention at which point it should be told. Once I have it looking like I want, line is my preferred method of rendering, though I am experimenting with digital painting. When that is taken care of, its onto coloring, I prefer earth tones in most of my pieces, but of course, the color depends on the subject.
My subjects are often very fantasy middle age characters more like the look of Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones kind of feel. The other alternative is a “steampunk” scene involving machines or muted victorian settings.
I want viewer to feel that they have picked up a photo in the lives of my character, who seem as real as the next person, though living in a world of fantastic proportions. I want to give my viewers an escape from reality to a world were adventure lives and imagination is currency. To give you a glimpse into worlds that could be real if one only might open their eyes.
