In Malaysia, sex education remain taboo subjects in both the private and public sphere. Our culture made abstinence-only sex education, by teaching kids to not engage with sexual activity, it’s a terrible thing unless you are married. But we are not providing them with the information on how to protect themselves against STDs when they do become sexually active. We are seeking a possibility to enlighten sex education in a different approach that is more both teenagers and young adults friendly. The challenge to repackage this comprehensive sex education that make this topic accessible with fun colors and quirky but informative illustrations, the aim is to make sure the younger generations actually make sense of what sex really is.
Thanks to the project I befriended with June Low who is the creator of <Popek-Popek>, a sex educator based in Kuala Lumpur. She broadcast a YouTube channel providing playful but informative sex education. June aimed to educate the public to build healthy relationships by covering a wide range of topics that affect sexuality and sexual health. June tours many campus providing talks and workshop to educate the teenagers from high schools.
Some other sketches and exploration.
